Horses

Equine therapy session with horses.

I have another story I’d like to share that I read in an article a few years ago. The article was about a horse facility and a group of kids that were coming for an “equine therapy” session with horses.

The kids came from a township in South Africa that was known for its high murder rates, gangs, rape, drugs, alcohol and all kinds of violence and abuse.

One young woman who was a recovering addict stood in the arena with the horses. One of the horses came up to her and put his nose to her stomach. Another horse did the same and when asked if there could be any reason they’d do that she said “no”. After three more horse did the same thing she then admitted she had had an abortion. Then all the horses surrounded her and stayed there while she cried, giving her time and protection. When she stopped crying they dispersed.

Horses are being used more and more to help people deal with trauma and PTSD of all levels. These horses sensed her vulnerability and distress. They didn’t judge or criticize.

Thank you Lord, for blessing us with horses.

God is Doing a Small Thing

Years ago I was given a book of Francis Schaefer’s sermons titled No Little People. I was remembering one particular sermon, “No Little People, No Little Places” recently while I was thinking about our life here in Montana.

Horses & Human Stories

One of the stories I’d like to share was on TV many years ago. It was a real working ranch for boys where they also raised horses.
